Lufthansa Group airlines Austrian, Brussels, Swiss, Air Dolomiti and Lufthansa will implement a new fee structure for their distribution surcharge on Sept. 1.
Under the new structure, the fee will vary according to which GDS the booking is completed in.
“The adjustment is in line with the Lufthansa Group airlines’ policy to increase transparency by reflecting GDS cost accurately,” the carrier told travel advisors.

The Lufthansa Group airlines currently charge a $21 booking surcharge across all the GDSs. Under the new structure, the airlines will assess a surcharge of $18.50 for bookings in Amadeus, $20.50 in Sabre and $24 in Travelport.
The Lufthansa Group carriers continue to offer surcharge-free bookings via their websites, airline-to-agency NDC direct connections, approved NDC aggregators and its web-based NDC-enabled booking tool SPRK.
