American Airlines will reinstate its year-round, daily service from New York JFK to Bermuda on Nov. 3.

The flight was halted in the early days of the Covid pandemic.

Vance Campbell, minister of tourism, pointed out that the flight resumption, coupled with the scheduled redevelopments of the Fairmont Southampton and Ariel Sands as well as the debut of the Azura resort on the South Shore later this year “strengthens the foundation for Bermuda’s tourism recovery.”

Ariel Sands, the former hotel and cottage colony that has been closed since 2008, plans to rebuild and reopen asĀ  five-star resort in 2024 or 2025. The actor Michael Douglas is one of the owners.
